Meet the business

Mexicantown Main Street

Mexicantown Main Street supports small businesses, cultural programming, and economic development along Southwest Detroit’s historic corridor. As the organization expanded community events, partnerships, and branding efforts, they needed a cohesive identity that could anchor their work and reflect the pride of the neighborhood. Their previous materials felt disconnected and didn’t capture the depth or vibrancy of the community they serve. They sought an identity that honored heritage, elevated visibility, and positioned the corridor for long-term growth.

A Unified Identity for a Growing Corridor

Project

Goal

The primary goal was to design a brand system that represented Mexicantown authentically — one that residents could feel proud of and that partners could instantly recognize. The identity needed to be flexible enough for events, signage, marketing, business outreach, and community storytelling. We focused on creating visual cohesion, modernizing the public-facing presence, and giving the organization tools to communicate clearly and consistently. The final system positions Mexicantown Main Street as a strong cultural and economic anchor for the neighborhood while setting a foundation for future growth and visibility.

Project Highlights

DISCOVERY

We began by studying the corridor’s history, visual language, and community touchpoints. This included walking the district, reviewing existing materials, and identifying opportunities to create a more unified and intentional brand system.

DEVELOPMENT

A comprehensive brand kit was built to support real-world use: social media templates, flyer systems, event graphics, neighborhood banners, and business-facing materials that help the corridor communicate consistently.

DESIGN

We crafted a visual identity that blends cultural heritage with a modern Main Street aesthetic. The system includes a refined logo suite, color palette inspired by Southwest Detroit, typography pairings, and a flexible design framework for print, digital, and signage.

DEPLOYMENT

Once the identity system was finalized, we produced rollout materials, delivered usage guidelines, and prepared assets for the Rebrand Fiesta. We also supported press documentation and ensured the visual system translated clearly across all platforms.
